NATIONAL FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS FOUNDATION
In the fall of 2005 the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation was attempting to develop and deploy a program know today as The Courage to Be Safe, 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives. With our idea's and experiences a contract was awarded us to fulfill that expectation. In the spring of 2006 our first delivery was in Montour Falls, NY. Since then this initiative has been taught throughout the US and Canada.
In 2010 I was fortunate to be awarded the George D. Post Instructor of the year by the International Society of Fire Service Instructors and Fire Engineering Magazine based on this project.
As national program coordinator managing 1,500 instructors across the United States this initiative was given life. With support from many prominent people the program is self sustaining and continues today. Having been awarded contracts from 2005 through 2012 I can say it was a fantastic opportunity to be part of such an event. LODD have seen a decline since the program launch. The program is good but it takes a great cadre of instructors to make it a real success.
In addition, PSEN was contracted to develop Online training segments based on real world events that could have seen a different outcome had the initiatives been a foundation for personal growth and development.
